Oct 18 2006: ‘Strange’ from Vertebrae No. 5 in a cool little film – ‘Straight into Gay America’

Strange from Vertebrae No. 5 will be featured in the indie film ‘Straight into Gay America’. (directed by Jenny Ting)

This documentary follows Lars Clausen, a straight man and a pastor, as he unicycles (yes, UNIcycles!) over 1000 miles for 5 weeks to advocate for LGBT equal rights. I’m excited to lend a track to the film!

Come Unwound

Come Unwound

A slight departure from the dark dreamy folk electronica of Eddins’ previous release ‘Vertebrae No.5’, ‘Come Unwound’ is more organic, raw, and certainly more rockin’ while still remaining true to the songwriter’s darker style of expression.

On a personal note, I had a blast making this record. So many fantastic musicians came through the studio to contribute. Each one completely unique and wonderful. Then came the ever present fly in the ointment which actually led to one of my favorite moments. I happened to pick up the phone on a Saturday afternoon and listened while Bill explained that there was a problem with a key track the drummer (Matt Chamberlain) was busy trying to track to. If I could grab my bass and get there, great. If not, the track wouldn’t make the record. Well.. off I went. For anyone that doesn’t know who Matt is, look him up. I can’t tell you how excited I was to lay down a live track with this incredible drummer. A bass player’s dream to say the least!

July 2007:“Eddins sings in a voice rich with the hope and heartache of romance”.. “seductively dark harmony that simultaneously invites and warns you”..
“For the sake of comparison, take Sheryl Crow, give her a deeper, sexier voice sung in a quieter tone and she would sound like Eddins.”
—– Hot Indie News
May 2007:“melodic songs with melancholy lyrics about sadness, hope and fire”…
“As a long time fan of Shawn Colvin I cannot help but mention that the songs of Mische show similarities to those of this big star.” (click hereto read in English)
